SANGKHLABURI

WELCOME BACK TO MY BLOG!
last week I did not update my blog (if anyone can remember) but I did a VLOG instead.
The VLOG was about my trip to Kanchanaburi and Sang Khla buri which located in the border of Thailand, connected to Burma (Myanmar).

This blog will be illustrating about what I have done and where I have been in Kanchanaburi.

We left Bangkok at 1p.m. and drop by Mahidol University in Nakhon Pathom to find something to eat. On the road again at 2p.m. (for anyone who wanted to go to the same destination, this is too late! I recommend you to leave Bangkok in the morning.)

The road that leads to SangKhlaBuri was getting darker and darker due to the location that the town is quite far from Kanchanaburi district so all around the road had no LIGHTS at all, you can only found it when you were at the area that people are living, but mostly, no lights, preparing for (about) 1,865 curves on the way, and not so many cars driving at night, have to be SO CAREFUL.

Average 5 hours from Bangkok to SangKhlaburi, located 230km from Kanchanaburi.

the - two - most popular attractions are Mon Bridge and Mon Village

The Mon bridge or “Saphan Mon” is Thailand’s longest wooden bridge and the second longest in the world measuring over 400 meters long. The handmade footbridge constructed in the 1980’s spans the Song Kalia river to the Mon village Wang Kha.

The village’s main attractions are Wat Wang Wiwekaram temple and the market, where visitors can sample Mon food and buy handmade Mon products. Late July 2013 part of the bridge collapsed after heavy rainfall. The pressure caused by a buildup of weeds brought there by strong currents made of section of the bridge come down. The bridge has been restored since then.

The Three Pagodas Pass
played always a role in the Thai history. It was the gateway for the overland trade route from the Gulf of Martaban and the Gulf of Siam - the conduit for the culture, religion, and political institutions of India. This pass is named after the three miniature pagodas and is located about 22 km from Sangkhlaburi. Centuries ago this was the spot from where marauding Burmese armies marched into Thailand on their traditional invasions. It also marks the rugged Thai - Myanmar border and is the site of a small thriving border market.

Khao Laem National Park

is in the north-west of Kanchanaburi province, it includes Khao Laem Reservoir and the surrounding fertile forests in both Sangkhlaburi and Thong Pha Phum districts. The park was created in 1987 to honor the kings 60th birthday, it covers an area of 1,497 square kilometers. The huge reservoir central to the park is the water source for the Kwai Noi River and other important rivers in the area.

For those who not have personal tent, at the National Park, you can rent a tent for 225 baht, the blanket about 50 baht and the mattress for 20 baht each (i can't remember the actual price but not more or less than 30 baht from these prices) or you can reserve for the rental house but it was always full :(

Pom Pee viewpoint
a great spot right next to Khao Laem Reservoir, There are plenty of places to pitch a tent, if you don’t have your own you can hire a tent and camping equipment from the lodge at the entrance. A full set of camping equipment, including a tent, sleeping bags and mats cost around 300 baht for 2 people. The tent pitches are on spotlessly clean grass areas, and you even get your own sink area to wash your dishes! There is also a well maintained toilet and shower building close by.

JOKKRADIN WATERFALL
located in the Khao Laem National Park, about 5 km far from the park area, BE CAREFUL (again) the road was not that good and steep. The water is cold and so fresh, you can take a shower here in order to be awake to travel all day long.

BAAN E-TONG, PILOK

about 8 km from Khao Laem National Park, a small town with people living in a slow life cycle, in the morning you can watch the fog river covered all the town.

recommendation: abundant tourists will be here in the winter. if you are a type of person who doesn't like a place with crowded people, avoid this little angel because at the Khao Laem National Park you also can see the fog river and even more beautiful. Just stop by here in the morning and then come back to other places.

VAJIRALONGKORN DAM

a beautiful dam located in the same way to Khao Laem National Park, not too many people but try to use the toilet before arrived here.

The toilet was... or it's okay if you wanna try!
I already organized the route of the trip, so if you want to do the same trip as me, just follow the plan :D starting from SangKhlaBuri and all the places are already arranged.

THANKS! SEE YOU NEXT TRIP!

  1. I went to Kanchanaburi for several times but never go to Sangklaburi because most of the time I went there to do my video project. I do not have enough time to go that far but for the next time I might go there for my vacay. Thanks for sharing.

    1. suggestions: you dont have to leave Bangkok too early (in case you will not stop by anywhere else) because if you arrived too in the noon, except the three pagodas and boat tour, seems there's nothing more interesting in the town :(
